Waco is a city located in the Southern state of Texas. The population of Waco as of 2009 is estimated at 121, 496 people, making it the 194th largest city by population in the United States.

The Downtown area of Waco is much smaller than other main cities in Texas, but there are still approximately 17,000 people who commute to the area for work every day. One of the main attractions in Downtown Waco is the Waco Suspension Bridge which crosses the Brazos River. The Waco Suspension Bridge was a modern marvel during its time, as it was built in 1869, years before the world-famous Brooklyn Bridge was constructed in New York City.

The most famous institution in Waco is Baylor University, known nationally for its Division I Athletics. To give you an idea of how famous the Baylor University Athletics Program is, here is a list of only a few individuals who have played there: Lance Berkman, Michael Johnson, Dominic Rhodes, and Ladainian Tomlinson.

Other attractions in Waco include the Dr. Pepper Museum, Lake Waco, and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

The city of Waco may not be the target destination for many people on vacation, but this smaller Southern city has everything that you need to enjoy yourself for a good period of time. Just as a typical Southern city, the outdoor environment is great and so is the Texas barbecue that comes along with it. What separates Waco from others is the history and tie with collegiate and professional sports that it has. Travel down to Waco and have your world turned around in this nice city!
